A Few Words About My Artwork

Welcome to my site. I hope you will enjoy the work you see here. Nature has always been my inspiration, and in particular, I am drawn to the majesty of landscape. Most of my work has its inspiration in flowers, the ocean, sunrises and sunsets. I strive to add a colorful, feminine quality that reflects who I am as an artist, wife and mother. My goal is to bring beauty and light to my family and friends through my artwork, whether through painting, jewelry or collage. I hope to be able to share this spirit on a larger scale through this site and that I will be able to touch each of you in a personal and meaningful way.

After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1983, I moved to New York City to work as a textile designer. Gradually, my artwork shifted from designing in large companies to creating work of a more personal nature. My paintings became journals of our travels and my collages the chronicles of my daughters’ lives. Recently, I began working in encaustic. The hot wax combined with pigment creates a spiritual dream-like effect, reminiscent of a hologram. Its soft nature allows for objects to be imbedded in the surface, which is perfect for my love of collage. As my collection of beads and stones grew, I fell in love with the magical properties of the gemstones. Ultimately I was inspired to create a collection of jewelry that combines the spiritual and healing properties of gemstones with the playful qualities of charms and colors. This has added a new dimension to my work that I look forward to sharing in pieces that are unique, intuitive and personalized.

Creating this site was a labor of love, inspired by my husband and three beautiful daughters. Without them I would not have found my artistic voice. I would also like to thank my dear friend Deirdre Tanton who worked tirelessly to turn a dreamy vision into a reality.
